New laboratory pump for the lecture, given from Albrecht Maschinenbau GmbH
Promoting the training of students for practical application - with this intension, the Institute of Jet Propulsion and Turbomachinery was handed over a new low-pressure centrifugal pump by the company Albrecht Maschinenbau GmbH from Braunschweig. Martin Kuni, Managing Director of Albrecht Maschinenbau GmbH and Dr. Ing. Detlev Wulff, Managing Director of Förderverein Strömungsmaschinen C. Pfleiderer e.V. Both emphasize the significance of practical training at the institute, which not only covers the design and design of turbomachinery, but also their challenges in the operational environment. "Especially within more versatile and complex systems, knowing the behavior of the subsystems in operation and their wear mechanisms is extremely important for engineers," emphasizes Martin Kuni during the handover. The new test pump will be used by additional instrumentation for new laboratory experiments with students and in the context of the lecture "Hydraulic Turbomachinery". First of all, the pump should be precisely measured and concepts for flow visualization worked out through student work. Based on this, the laboratory of the lecture will be realigned and can be reworked in the next winter semester.

Colloquium Turbomachines of the Förderverein Strömungsmaschinen C. Pfleiderer e.V
During the colloquium of turbomachines, which was hold in Braunschweig by the Förderverein Strömungsmaschinen C. Pfleiderer e.V. and the Institute of jet propulsion and turbomachinery in september 2018, outstanding student theses in the field of turbomachinery were awarded. The price for 2017 went to Christian Landfester and for 2018 to Tobias Haßelmann.

Energie revolution in aviation
of this research project is the development of integrated concepts to reduce green house gases and noise exposure as well as the cycle of materials verification. Furthermore a vital request is the development of an adapted air traffic management a central aim of this project.
An interdisciplinary team of scientists works in this project (TU Braunschweig, LU Hannover, HBK-Braunschweig, DLR, PTB and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft).

Completion of the lecture period with an excursion to Enercon
As part of the lecture "Systems of Wind Turbines" on 01/22/2019 another excursion to the wind turbine manufacturer Enercon from Magdeburg was carried out. The more than 20 participating students of the lecture were able to view the practical design and assembly of the individual components such as rotor blade, generator or the machine house and discuss in detail with the employees of Enercon.

On the TU Day 2014, with the help of young reporters a coverage about compressor blades and their function in jet engines was shot.
